Alpha Omega is a small consulting engineering firm, and tackles problems in a variety of industries which need experience with software and electronics. Some of the projects include the software to control an automated lathe to peel veneer for the plywood industry, creating a web based order entry and production tracking system module for Drupal, implementing an assembly line for manufacturing disk drives, and providing technical help for an ISP as it started.

I manage the network at Alpha Omega. Although this is a small company, the similarity of the domain name causes more than the appropriate share of email and spam to be directed at the company's servers, which required the appropriate hardening to provide reasonable service to our users and customers.

I have built and managed the Linux servers used at WNYLC for email and certain web applications. Part of this involves writing custom software to support the specific needs of this organization.

Willamette Pass Ski Resort

I helped implement and maintain the software that implments access control and monitoring for skiers at this ski resort. I also configure the networking to allow this remote site to have access to the Internet so that the city office and keep in contact with the ski resort, and to allow access for clearing credit cards and supporting other e-commerce needed for the resort. The networking challanges for operating in this environment are interesting and always changing.

I have written and maintain a web site dedicated to creating word puzzles which are used intensively by teachers and students. This web site handles a million+ page views per month, and allows me to test out different ideas regarding software, network monitoring, and scalability.
