3.An antiprotozoal agent that acts upon Coccidia parasites in cattle, poultry, swine, and sheep rations
7.A disease process that has initiated but has not yet manifested symptoms
8.a substance that kills or inhibits the growth of microorganisms such as bacteria, fungi, or protozoans.
10.Regardless of the feedstuffs that make up the diets of your herds, adding this helps increase your cows milk production efficiency by yielding more energy from every pound of feed they consume while also helping to prevent and control coccidiosis in growing calves and heifers. Overall, your cows benefit from the additional energy available when formulating rations for all of your beef cattle or dairy cows.
12.When a nutrient or additive substance allows animals to use available nutrients more effectively
13.Compounds or substances that kill or slow down the growth of bacteria
Down
1."Boosters" include hormone implants and feed additives that increase efficiency...
2.Materials added for farm animals that can't get enough nutrients from regular meals that the farmers provide. In some cases if an animal does not have some type of feed in its diet it may not grow properly. Nutritional content of an animal feed is influenced not only by nutrient content but also by many other aspects such as, feed presentation, hygiene, digestibility, and effect on intestinal health to name a few. Even with all of the benefits of feed most of a farm animals diet still consist of corn, wheat and soybean meal because of the cost of quality feed.
4.These products help to improve feed efficiency 5-10 percent and daily gains from 5-15 percent. Usually inserted in the animal's ear.
5.At the start of the 20th century, these were thought to beneficially affect the host by improving its intestinal microbial balance, thus inhibiting pathogens and toxin producing bacteria. Today, specific health effects are being investigated and documented including alleviation of chronic intestinal inflammatory diseases, prevention and treatment of pathogen-induced diarrhea, urogenital infections, and atopic diseases. These are live microorganisms, such as yeast, thought to be beneficial to the host organism's digestive tract.
6.Dewormers
9.a polyether antibiotic isolated from Streptomyces cinnamonensis. It is widely used extensively in the beef and dairy industries to prevent coccidiosis, increase the production of propionic acid and prevent bloat.
11.An orally active synthetic progestagen. It is fed at doses of 0.25-0.5 mg per heifer per day in the feed. It suppresses recurrent estrus in feedlot heifers and increases growth rate and feed efficiency. It is not effective in pregnant or spayed heifers or in steers. Its mode of action is to suppress ovulation presumably by suppressing luteinizing hormone (LH) pulse frequency; however, large follicles develop, which can increase concentrations of estradiol and growth hormone, and hence growth. There is generally a 48-hr withdrawl period prior to slaughter.
