Match the language devices to their meaning.

1Repetition _____The deliberate choice of words to make the reader feel emotion.
2Alliteration _____Using words which make wrong and immoral things or ideas seem acceptable or even attractive.
3Short sentences _____Reassuring people that something is very easy to use or do.
4Metaphor _____Giving human characteristics to something which is not human or not even alive.
5First person _____The simple repeating of a word, within a sentence or a poetical line, with no particular placement of the words, in order to secure emphasis.
6Emotive language _____Using informal words, often to create a friendly, welcoming atmosphere.
7Personification _____The repetition of the same sounds or of the same kinds of sounds at the beginning of words or in stressed syllables of a phrase.
8Juxtaposition _____Punchy, quick and dynamic short sentences that are good for describing dramatic events or action.
9Colloquial language _____Placing contrasting words, ideas or images together for effect.
10Normalisation _____Writing from the "I" point of view.
11Simplification _____Questions that do not need an answer; often the questioner answers the question him- or herself.
12Rhetorical question _____A word or phrase that is used to make a comparison between two people, things, animals, or places.
