Victoria's largest gold discovery occurred in 1854 nothe of Melbourne near thetown of Ballarat. The largest gold nugget was found by Cornish miners about 120 feet below ground and weighed about 69 pounds.
Unfair gold licensing, government greed and miners frustrations lead to the Eureka Rebellion which ended as a bloody battle at the Eureka Stockade. This Rebellion lead to changes in the Colonial Government and gave people a way in what is happening in their colony.
